Despite this, the steering and handling on the Trax are behind the segment. The 2018 Chevrolet Trax's handling is composed and offers a stable ride quality. Honda has the highest top speed at 119 mph. The Buick Encore takes third place, and the EcoSport is the slowest. In terms of quarter-mile, the Trax is the quickest, whereas the HR-V takes the second spot, behind by 0.1 seconds. The EcoSport is the slowest of all, taking 10.4 seconds for its 0-60 mph time. The Trax is second in line, with its 9.6 seconds time, followed by the Encore at 10.3 seconds. The Honda HR-V is the quickest of the lot, with a 0-60 mph time of 9.3 seconds.
The added weight of the AWD system eats into the already slow Trax's performance. The AWD configured model is slower, with a 0-60 sprint time of 10 seconds, whereas the quarter-mile takes 17.4 seconds. The 2018 Chevrolet Trax with the 1.4L engine and FWD setup takes 9.6 seconds to reach the 0-60 mph mark, whereas the quarter-mile comes up in 17.1 seconds. Peak torque kicks in the earliest on the Trax at 1850 rpm. The EcoSport makes the least power out of these three. The most power output is on the HR-V at 141 hp, and the most torque is produced by the Encore and the Trax at 148 lb-ft.
In terms of power output, the Encore and the Trax make the same power and torque figures. The Buick is the most expensive in the lot.

It is also the only car to get an engine with no turbocharger and has a manual gearbox instead of an automatic. The Honda HR-V is the most affordable car in this lot. There is no manual gearbox, and the available 6-speed transmission has wide spaces, with a tall sixth gear for highway cruising and better economy. Other than that, this small turbo 1.4l engine has just a little oomph in the city, and highway speeds take a while to reach and maintain as well. The engine's best part is the available peak torque, which kicks in as low as 1850 rpm.

We do recommend the Driver Confidence package. Also, the optional packages are not only show, but offer some quite interesting features. The AWD helps with a better ride quality, whereas the optional packages let you customize the Trax as per your needs. At $24,400 for the AWD version, it is the best deal. The 2018 Chevrolet Trax LT Trim is the car to go for. The Premier trim gets a midnight edition for a price of $500. The optional Redline Edition adds exterior accents for a price of $1,350. The Driver Confidence Package adds a few safety features. The Sun and Sound package adds an upgraded system for a price of $1,150. The LT Convinience Package adds a few interior features, for a price of $450. On the LT trim, however, there are a few main packages. The LS trim does not get any optional packages. Some main interior features across all trims have been listed below. The LS is decently equipped, enough to not make you feel stripped off of features whereas the Premier takes it a few levels up with its superbly equipped interior. Although the Trax comes standard with FWD, AWD is offered for a premium of around $1,500 over the FWD variant. Pricing for these trims starts at $21,000, and goes up to $28,800 for the top trim. The 2018 Chevrolet Trax is offered in three trims, namely the LS, the LT, and the Premier.
